About The Position

Brown & Brown is seeking an EDI/Data Specialist to join their growing team within the National Employee Benefits Technology (EBTech) Department. This department deploys various software tools for health care reform compliance, automated benefits enrollment, and other automation needs for customers and their employees. The Specialist will be responsible for overseeing aspects of the software implementation process, including data analysis/audits, EDI configuration, testing, training, and presenting their work to customers. The role requires a detail-oriented and deadline-driven individual who will work directly with customer contacts.

Requirements

  • Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5 years of applicable software implementation experience
  • Ability to readily learn and apply new information/concepts.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Experience working with personal computer database applications
  • Exceptional telephone demeanor, professional approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain licensure in Life and Health Insurance
  • 2-4 years of experience in an office environment, preferably in the insurance, human resources, or financial sectors
  • 1-2 years of experience with employee data file manipulation and EDI file development

Responsibilities

  • Audit and upload data for moderately complex new customer website implementations or ongoing customer data.
  • Create and configure new and existing EDI files for moderately complex customer websites using third-party software, following SOPs and best practices.
  • Perform final testing and auditing of own work and others' configurations for low to moderate complexity software to ensure proper functioning, with oversight.
  • Interpret and follow SOPs, assist in developing SOPs, and provide recommendations for SOP process improvements.
  • Build and maintain courteous and successful relationships with customers, vendors, and carriers.
  • Provide direct and indirect daily support to assigned customers.
  • Maintain working knowledge of health and benefits products, services, and tools to appropriately configure and test software.
  • Promote teamwork, support, knowledge sharing, and a positive attitude within the department and office.
  • Promote a commitment to achieving or exceeding internal and external performance standards.
  • Ensure individual quality assurance on low to moderate complexity EDI builds.
  • Anticipate and respond to customer support questions and serve as a subject matter resource in customer meetings.
  • Follow department guidelines, policies, and procedures, including professional development and continuing education.
  • Provide training and mentorship to Analysts and Senior Analysts.
  • Participate in training opportunities to stay current on industry information, new product development, legislation, coverages, and technology.
  • Pursue personal and professional development.
