About The Position

The Edger Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of an edging machine to process material according to work order specifications. This role involves ensuring material quality, identifying correct tools, performing in-process inspections, and maintaining a clean work area. The operator will also be responsible for documentation, minor mechanical repairs, and troubleshooting issues while adhering to all safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience or training in a related field or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must be able to use and understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals.
  • Knowledge of the Standard/Imperial measuring system is required.
  • Understanding and use of basic measuring instruments required; micrometers, digital calipers, tape measure is preferred.
  • Work from written specifications and verbal instructions.
  • Maintains a good attendance record.
  • Ability to work effectively with all other employees.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Continuous process improvement will be required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • A positive attitude.
  • The capacity and desire to learn.
  • The ability to pass both a pre-employment background and drug screening.
  • Experience with mechanical measurement tools and basic math skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the metric system is a plus.
  • Micrometers, digital calipers, tape measure are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Checking work order, properly selecting processed material and checking for weight, alloy, size, and quality.
  • Proper set-up and operation of an edging machine.
  • In-process inspection of material to ensure proper quality is maintained.
  • Identifying the correct edging tools to utilize.
  • Running material according to specifications of the work order.
  • Checking material to ensure customer quality requirements are met.
  • Properly identifying all edged material and completing all documentation.
  • Repairing minor mechanical problems as needed.
  • Grouping completed coils together by work order in a designated area.
  • Maintaining work area in a clean and neat fashion.
  • Troubleshooting any issues and concerns.
  • Following all safety protocols for the company.
