About The Position

The Unit Clerk performs clerical duties in the nursing unit and assists in coordinating the efforts of the health care team by receiving and disseminating information. This is a part-time, 8-hour night shift position (11p-7a) requiring every other weekend and holiday rotation. The role is in a 26-bed Emergency Department that is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and a Level III Trauma Center. A tailored orientation plan is provided, and compensated certifications (ACLS, PALS, TNCC) are available, along with opportunities for committee work and clinical advancement.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
  • Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the flow of information via multiple channels between patients, family, and members of the healthcare team both inside and outside of the department to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
  • Performs clerical duties related to patient information and events within the electronic medical record that provides an accurate and current record.
  • Performs inventory management including ordering medical or office supplies to guarantee correct par levels.
