About The Position
As part of the unit-based team, the ED Technician I provides direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The position also rotates to oversee patients and families in the ED waiting area, assist patients upon arrival, help the triage RN identify medical necessity, and provide information and support to patients, families, and staff. The role serves neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing, with patients, guests, and co-workers.
- Exceptional people skills and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Ability to adapt, prioritize, and function in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- National Registered Paramedic certification through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, or proof of current completion of two semesters in an accredited Registered Nursing Program.
- Basic Lifesaving Certification from the American Heart Association.
