About The Position

As part of the unit-based team, the ED Technician I provides direct and indirect care to patients in the Emergency Department under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The position also rotates to oversee patients and families in the ED waiting area, assisting patients upon arrival, helping the triage RN identify medical necessity, and providing information and support to patients, families, and staff. The role serves neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing, with patients, guests, and co-workers.
• Exceptional people skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Ability to adapt, prioritize, and function in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
• National Registered Paramedic certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, or proof of current completion of two semesters in an accredited Registered Nursing Program.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
