About The Position

The Ed Specialist - Continuous Improvement will act as a primary resource for accountability and assessment, providing the technical and instructional support necessary for identified Region 16 districts to improve student achievement and successfully manage state-required school improvement intervention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Texas teacher certification required
  • Texas Teaching experience required
  • Experience in intervention and accelerated classroom practices
  • Experience incorporating technology within daily practice of classroom instruction

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Texas principal certification preferred
  • Knowledge of the Effective District and Effective Schools Framework preferred
  • Knowledge of: Coaching, modeling, and providing feedback on performance, with an emphasis on identifying and problem-solving through implementation barriers across wide and diverse circumstances
  • In-depth knowledge of instructional leadership practices that lead to improved teaching and learning
  • In-depth knowledge of data-driven practices, lesson planning and formative assessment, observation and feedback, school culture, and change management
  • Knowledge of district practices that impede as well as empower leadership
  • Knowledge of: the accountability system and the necessary actions and measurable progress required to meet state standards
  • Skill in: Long-term planning and project management, tracking progress, analytical thinking, conceptual thinking, effective communication, root cause analysis
  • Adult learning and professional development design and delivery

Responsibilities

  • Provides ongoing support for the districts in Region in the PLC Cycle, state testing, district assessment schedules, TEA testing platforms
  • Collaborates with all members of the Leadership and Instructional Foundations for Texas (LIFT) Team
  • Communicates effectively to provide up-to-date information to district/campus personnel regarding developments, initiatives, and priorities at the state and federal level
  • Assists district/campus personnel in improving student performance
  • Assists districts with comprehensive needs assessments and Effective School Framework diagnostics based on student performance data to determine leadership, teacher, culture, curriculum, and instructional needs
  • Stays current with state and federal requirements related to accountability, assessment, and school improvement
  • Provides professional development, coaching, technical assistance, and resources to districts in Region 16 for the purpose of increasing student achievement through accountability, assessment, and school improvement services
  • Assists districts and campuses with accountability, assessment, and school improvement requirements and initiatives
  • Assists district/campus personnel with DMAC (and/or other data disaggregation programs) needs and activities
  • Provides training, support, and coaching to districts and campuses as necessary or required
  • Serves as a valued team member of the ESC Accountability, Assessment, and School Improvement Team, including facilitation of the Wraparound Team
  • Provides effective, research-based instructional support for campuses in Region
  • Communicates with districts, campuses, charter schools, TEA, and ESCs to provide effective, research-based technical assistance to improve student performance
  • Records accurate documentation of all technical assistance provided to districts
  • Utilizes content and pedagogical expertise to design and execute engaging professional development around best practices for successful professional development
  • Collaborates with colleagues in and beyond the ESC to identify administrator professional development needs through detailed data analysis and self-reflection
  • Incorporates technology into professional development and provides support to teachers with innovative strategies designed to challenge students and individualize instruction
  • Sets, modifies, and meets short- and long-term professional goals based on self-assessment, reflection, peer and supervisor feedback, contemporary research, and analysis of student learning
  • Travels as a part of job responsibilities
  • Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the service area director. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly
  • Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
  • Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region
  • Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters
  • Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan
  • Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program
  • Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures
  • Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines
  • Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
  • Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned
