Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required: Health Care Administration or Business major preferred
  • 3-5 years in Management or 2-3 years hospital or Emergency Department Leadership Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must attend hospital crisis training program within three (3) months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday, with frequent movement throughout the Emergency Department, Access Center, and other hospital areas.
  • Requires frequent use of standard office equipment, including a computer, telephone, and other communication devices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically with staff, patients, families, physicians, and external partners.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and the ability to lift or carry items weighing up to 20 pounds may be required.
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to read documents, view computer screens, and participate in meetings and operational discussions is necessary.
  • Requires full range of motion to perform job-related tasks, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and occasional kneeling.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods while rounding throughout the Emergency Department, Access Center, and other hospital areas.
  • Frequent use of computer systems, telephones, and other office/communication equipment requiring fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and finger dexterity.
  • Requires visual and auditory acuity sufficient to read documentation, analyze data, review electronic records, and communicate effectively in person and electronically.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects or materials weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to respond quickly to operational needs and move efficiently throughout a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment.
  • Ability to function in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, competing priorities, and urgent operational needs.
  • Requires strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills to support real-time operational decision-making.
  • Ability to organize, synthesize, and interpret complex and evolving information to prioritize tasks and support departmental operations.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and sound judgment in dynamic clinical and operational situations.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships and effectively communicate with multidisciplinary teams, leadership, staff, patients, families, and external partners.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient, family, and staff needs while maintaining professionalism in emotionally charged situations.
  • May be required to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in operational response activities, emergency preparedness, and community or organizational events as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operational oversight of the Emergency Department, including the Main ED and Access Center.
  • Provides leadership and direction for non-clinical operations, support staff, and departmental initiatives to ensure efficient, patient-centered, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Supports the strategic, operational, financial, and quality objectives of the department through oversight of departmental operations, performance improvement initiatives, regulatory readiness, patient experience, and patient throughput processes.
  • Responsible for budget management, project implementation, policy development, operational decision-making, and fostering collaboration among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides leadership and oversight for ED support staff, ensuring appropriate staffing, training, performance management, and professional development.
  • Serves as a key liaison among patients and families, as well as hospital departments, physicians, community partners, and emergency services agencies including but not limited to SCP Clinical Partners, local EMS agencies, victim advocacy organizations, the Trauma Program, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Services, Laboratory Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Information Technology, and Facilities Management, to support exceptional service, operational excellence, and the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Responsible for development, implementation and coordination of a physical therapy program to provide screening, evaluation and treatment of patient of all ages.
