About The Position

Bradford Health Services is seeking an ECS Representative to support its addiction treatment programs. The role answers calls and inquiries from referring hospitals, standalone detox centers, acute psychiatric hospitals, and physicians’ offices; documents inquiries; and facilitates admissions to Bradford Health Services facilities. The ideal candidate has experience in behavioral health case management and admissions processes.

The representative conducts initial telephone screenings, gathers patient and insurance information, explains programs and admission procedures, verifies insurance eligibility, coordinates financial arrangements, and schedules assessments and admissions. The role also works with case managers, social workers, and referral sources to support continuity of care, timely placement, and communication. Patient records must be maintained accurately and confidentially in the electronic health record system, in compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of chemical dependency is desired.
• Knowledge of admissions or customer service and two years of experience in admissions/customer service are desired.
• Ability to interact with the professional community.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
• Reliable transportation.
• Self-motivated.
• Ability to see at 20/40 corrected in each eye and hear; hearing aids are accepted.
• Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Emotional and physical ability to function under stressful situations.
• Regular attendance.
• Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers, managers, clients, and prospective clients.
• If recovering, two years of continuous, verifiable sobriety.
• Strong communication and active listening, customer service and conflict resolution, crisis assessment and de-escalation, documentation and EHR proficiency, organization, multitasking, attention to detail, empathy, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls, faxes, and emails from referring hospitals, standalone detox centers, acute psychiatric hospitals, and physicians’ offices.
• Conduct initial telephone screenings to determine individuals’ behavioral health needs and appropriate level of care.
• Gather demographic, insurance, medical, psychiatric, and substance use information.
• Explain available behavioral health programs, services, and the admission process.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain financial arrangements.
• Coordinate admissions with Bradford Health Services facilities.
• Schedule assessments, intake appointments, and admissions.
• Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and community referral sources to facilitate continuity of care.
• Track referrals, admissions, and follow-up activities to ensure timely placement and communication.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in the electronic health record system.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and regulatory standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
