About The Position

The Louisiana Department of Health aims to protect and promote health and ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents. This role within Economic Stability involves delivering critical support through multiple programs, ensuring timely and accurate benefits. Beyond casework, the position includes mentoring and guiding staff, improving processes, and strengthening service delivery. Applicants must clearly describe their experience with specific Economic Stability, Medicaid programs, etc., and/or identify the section or unit in which they performed economic stability social services work within their job duties. Failure to do so may result in the application being deemed ineligible. Vacancies are available statewide across multiple regions.

Requirements

  • Five years of economic stability social services experience; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus two years of economic stability social services experience; OR A bachelor's degree plus two years of economic stability social services experience; OR An advanced degree in a social sciences field, business, public, or health administration plus one year of economic stability social services experience.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Determine initial and ongoing eligibility for Economic Stability programs by gathering, analyzing, and verifying client information in accordance with complex federal and state regulations.
  • Manage a reduced caseload, ensuring accurate documentation, timely case actions, and clear communication with applicants regarding program rules and benefits.
  • Identify customer needs and connect individuals to appropriate programs or community resources while providing respectful, culturally sensitive service.
  • Interpret and apply policies, laws, and procedures to ensure compliance and support fair, consistent eligibility determinations.
  • Serve as a lead analyst by training, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to lower-level staff, including reviewing cases for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist supervisors in evaluating workflows, redistributing caseloads, and improving operational efficiency to maintain consistent service delivery.
  • Support program quality through staff training, policy interpretation, monitoring case development, and assisting with audits, reports, and appeals documentation.
