Make a meaningful difference in your community! As a Part-Time Economic Services Worker, you will assist with and/or determine eligibility for essential public assistance programs. This position supports multiple Economic Services programs, which may include Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), Energy Assistance, and/or Medicaid, based on agency needs. Your work helps ensure that assistance reaches those who need it—quickly, accurately, and with compassion. Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Services Technology, Social Services, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a related field; or
  • High school diploma and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or public-contact experience involving interviewing, data collection/analysis, explaining information, negotiating, or related tasks, with at least one year in an income-maintenance program; or
  • High school diploma and three years of similar paraprofessional, clerical, or public-contact experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain policies and procedures clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to analyze information and apply eligibility rules and program guidelines.
  • Empathy and a genuine interest in understanding and assisting client needs.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to learn and apply policies across multiple assistance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with and/or determine eligibility for assigned Economic Services programs.
  • Interview clients and contact third-party verification sources to obtain required information.
  • Review, evaluate, and verify information to support eligibility determinations.
  • Assist Income Maintenance Caseworkers (IMC II) and/or independently complete eligibility actions, as assigned.
  • Process applications, recertifications, and case changes accurately and timely.
  • Enter, update, and maintain case information in agency systems to ensure accurate documentation and tracking.
  • Program assignments may vary and can include Food and Nutrition Services, Energy programs, and/or Medicaid, depending on operational needs.
