About The Position

The Economic Security Division is seeking a seasoned and dynamic leader to serve as Division Director. This role is critical in shaping and driving programs that support economic stability for individuals and families in our community. The ideal candidate will bring visionary leadership, a commitment to service, and the ability to foster collaboration across teams and stakeholders. At Denver Human Services (DHS), we envision a healthy community where people are connected, supported, safe, and well. One in three people in Denver turn to DHS for support at all stages of life. Our employees help children, at-risk adults, families, and individuals navigate social and economic pressures by connecting them to services and experts who support their overall well-being. Through our Economic Security Division (ESD), Denver Human Services seeks to engage residents in strengthening economic well-being and mobility across their lifespan. By leveraging the resources of Denver Human Services’ programs and a network of community partnerships, Economic Security provides a holistic approach to service delivery in order to assist customers in the ability to foresee crisis as well as adapt to and leverage changing life conditions to their advantage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience at the type and level of functional or operational management, which must have included management of subordinate supervisors.
  • Two (2) years of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high school education.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
  • Proven experience leading large teams and complex programs in a government or human services setting.
  • High Emotional Intelligence: Ability to lead with empathy and self-awareness, fostering trust and respect across diverse teams. Skilled at active listening, managing conflict constructively, and maintaining composure under pressure. Demonstrates cultural competence and sensitivity when engaging with staff, clients, and community partners. Builds a positive work environment where people feel valued and supported.
  • Ownership & Accountability: Demonstrated ability to take initiative and deliver results with a strong sense of responsibility for outcomes. Holds self and others to high standards of performance and integrity. Proactively identifies challenges and implements solutions, ensuring commitments are met and goals achieved.   • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all programs within the Economic Security Division.
  • Lead with integrity and accountability, ensuring operational excellence and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, community partners, and government agencies.
  • Champion innovation and adaptability in response to changing policies, community needs, and economic conditions.
