About The Position

The National Partnership for Women & Families is seeking an Economic Justice Advocacy Intern to join their Economic Justice team. This internship runs from September to early December and operates in a hybrid in-person office environment in Washington, DC. The role is designed to help interns develop skills in legislative and policy research, analysis, writing for various audiences, and coalition-building. Interns will work on key economic justice policy areas including paid family and medical leave, paid sick days, fair pay, occupational segregation, pregnancy discrimination, and sexual harassment.

Requirements

Strong writing, communication, and computer skills.
Research experience of some kind in an academic or professional setting (e.g., literature reviews, legal research, policy research).
Highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to manage multiple tasks for different projects.
A commitment to gender and equity, economic justice, and the Partnership’s mission of improving the lives of women and families by achieving equality and equity for all women.
An understanding of how poverty and racial justice intersect with the Partnership's key issue areas.
Seeking a learning opportunity in policy research and advocacy.
Must be at least a senior in college as of Fall 2026.
Candidates must be located in the DC/DMV area during their internship and able to reasonably commute to our Washington, D.C. Office for required in-person days.
Must be fully vaccinated and up to date on COVID-19 vaccines (unless an exemption is granted).

Responsibilities

Track relevant issues such as paid family and medical leave, paid sick days, fair pay, pregnancy discrimination and sexual harassment.
Conduct research on topics of interest related to our work.
Contribute to fact sheets and policy products, including by fact checking and proofreading.
Attend briefings, hearings and other events around DC and virtually.
Contribute to team meetings and events.
