About The Position

The National Partnership for Women & Families is seeking an Economic Justice Advocacy Intern to join their Economic Justice team. This internship runs from September to early December and operates in a hybrid in-person office environment in Washington, DC. The role is designed to help interns develop skills in legislative and policy research, analysis, writing for various audiences, and coalition-building. Interns will work on key economic justice policy areas including paid family and medical leave, paid sick days, fair pay, occupational segregation, pregnancy discrimination, and sexual harassment.

Requirements

  • Strong writing, communication, and computer skills.
  • Research experience of some kind in an academic or professional setting (e.g., literature reviews, legal research, policy research).
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to manage multiple tasks for different projects.
  • A commitment to gender and equity, economic justice, and the Partnership’s mission of improving the lives of women and families by achieving equality and equity for all women.
  • An understanding of how poverty and racial justice intersect with the Partnership's key issue areas.
  • Seeking a learning opportunity in policy research and advocacy.
  • Must be at least a senior in college as of Fall 2026.
  • Candidates must be located in the DC/DMV area during their internship and able to reasonably commute to our Washington, D.C. Office for required in-person days.
  • Must be fully vaccinated and up to date on COVID-19 vaccines (unless an exemption is granted).

Responsibilities

  • Track relevant issues such as paid family and medical leave, paid sick days, fair pay, pregnancy discrimination and sexual harassment.
  • Conduct research on topics of interest related to our work.
  • Contribute to fact sheets and policy products, including by fact checking and proofreading.
  • Attend briefings, hearings and other events around DC and virtually.
  • Contribute to team meetings and events.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $17.95 per hour through June 30, 2026, increasing to $18.40 per hour effective July 1, 2026.
