Ecommerce Manager - Maternity Leave Cover

About The Position

This role is a maternity leave cover position for an Ecommerce Manager. The manager will be responsible for the end-to-end ownership of the Ecommerce & Amazon Shop experience, focusing on performance, optimization, and customer journey enhancement. This includes managing the Slate ecom site and Amazon shop, ensuring they are optimized for conversion, speed, and mobile experience. The role involves improving UX/UI, acting as the voice of the customer, and executing site development and updates using Shopify. The manager will also be responsible for customer journey optimization through A/B testing, email/SMS campaign management, onsite merchandising, and SEO. Campaign execution for product launches, promotions, and seasonal events, as well as contractor management for agencies and SEO specialists, are key aspects of the role. The position requires daily tracking and reporting of core ecommerce KPIs, campaign performance, and building dashboards to inform strategic decisions. The ultimate goal is to drive conversion rate improvements, ecommerce revenue growth, and average order value.

Requirements

  • 3–6+ years in ecommerce, growth, or digital marketing roles (startup or high-growth experience preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with Shopify or similar ecommerce platforms
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS (JavaScript a plus)
  • Strong understanding of conversion rate optimization and digital funnels
  • Highly analytical, with experience using tools like Google Analytics (GA4), Shopify analytics, etc.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and moving quickly with limited resources
  • Strong ownership mindset—you don’t wait for direction, you find opportunities and act on them
  • Experience with A/B testing tools (e.g., Optimizely, VWO)
  • Familiarity with retention tools (Klaviyo, Attentive, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of SEO and site performance optimization
  • Experience working in a DTC brand or omnichannel business

Responsibilities

  • Own the performance and day-to-day management of the Slate ecom site & Amazon shop
  • Ensure both sites are optimized for conversion, speed, and mobile experience
  • Continuously improve UX/UI across key touchpoints (homepage, PDP, cart, checkout)
  • Act as the internal “voice of the customer” by identifying friction and solving it quickly
  • Build and update pages using Shopify, including landing pages, product pages, and merchandising updates
  • Implement light front-end changes using HTML/CSS (and basic JavaScript as needed)
  • Troubleshoot site issues and work with external developers when necessary
  • Move quickly from idea → live test without heavy reliance on engineering resources
  • Analyze user behavior and funnel performance to identify drop-off points
  • Develop and execute A/B tests to improve conversion rate, AOV, and retention
  • Manage Email/SMS Agency to support email journey optimization alongside site updates
  • Optimize onsite merchandising, navigation, search, and personalization
  • Create high-converting landing pages aligned with acquisition channels
  • Manage SEO contractor to ensure our website / blog is optimized for SEO
  • Own Slate.com & Amazon execution of product launches, promotions, and seasonal campaigns
  • Manage Email / SMS Agency to ensure cohesive campaigns across consumer touch points on a campaign and evergreen basis
  • Monitor and optimize campaigns in real time
  • Oversee management of lifecycle agency (email/sms) and SEO contractor to ensure the partnership is delivering against clear KPIs while staying within budget
  • Track, analyze, and report on core ecommerce KPIs (CVR, AOV, revenue, LTV signals, bounce rate) across both ecom & Amazon shop on a daily basis - reporting on a weekly basis to CGO, and monthly basis to executive team
  • Report on the performance of all marketing campaigns (brand, product, giveaways, promotions) executed across the site
  • Build simple, clear dashboards to inform decision-making
  • Translate data into insights and closely collaborate with CGO to take strategic decisions regarding site optimization to support growth
