Skylight•Los Angeles, CA
•$130,000 - $160,000

About The Position

Skylight is hiring an Ecommerce Demand Planner to build, own, and improve demand forecasts for its global ecommerce business across Amazon and direct-to-consumer (DTC), in the United States and internationally. The planner will translate commercial, operational, and consumer signals into SKU- and channel-level demand and revenue projections for Skylight Calendar, Frame, and Buddy. The role connects Commercial, Finance, and Supply Planning, ensuring forecasts reflect pricing and promotional strategy and provide a useful demand signal for purchasing and replenishment. The planner will also support the development and adoption of the Pigment demand-planning tool and continuously improve forecasting models, dashboards, and processes. Skylight is a bootstrapped, profitable technology startup whose products are designed to simplify family life. It has grown to more than $300 million in annual revenue. The company describes its culture as entrepreneurial, collaborative, and focused on meaningful products, autonomy, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of experience in demand planning, revenue forecasting, analytics, or a similar area for physical products; omnichannel experience is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience forecasting Amazon and DTC, including understanding how stock-outs, Buy Box loss, and price changes distort historical data.
  • Strong forecasting fundamentals, including seasonality, time-series methods, and promotional lift.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
  • Comfort working with data in BI tools such as Omni, Looker, Tableau, or similar to analyze performance and build reports.
  • Track record of partnering with Commercial, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain and communicating the story behind the numbers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Analytics, or a similar field.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with ambiguity, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Pigment or a similar planning platform such as Anaplan, o9, or Kinaxis.
  • Experience with international or multi-region ecommerce forecasting.
  • Experience forecasting new product launches, ideally consumer hardware with strong holiday seasonality.
  • Experience with S&OP or monthly demand review processes and an ERP such as NetSuite.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the bottom-up global demand forecast model for DTC and Amazon, covering the US and international markets.
  • Own SKU- and channel-level demand forecasts for Calendar, Frame, and Buddy, translating market and operational indicators into demand and revenue projections.
  • Account for Amazon Buy Box performance, deal events, advertising, and inventory availability in forecasts.
  • Incorporate DTC traffic, conversion, marketing plans, and promotional calendars into forecasts.
  • Partner with Commercial to understand pricing and promotional strategies and quantify their effects on demand.
  • Forecast ecommerce launches of new products and variants, including demand ramps and phase-outs, in partnership with Commercial.
  • Align with Commercial and Finance on the revenue plan and provide demand forecasts that inform the marketing-spend budget.
  • Partner with the Retail Demand Planner and account for retail forecasts and performance, including potential effects on ecommerce demand.
  • Work with Supply Planning on inventory challenges and opportunities; own the demand signal while Supply Planning owns purchasing and replenishment.
  • Support the monthly S&OP forecast cadence by preparing and presenting forecast accuracy and forecast-versus-actual analyses, identifying risks and upside opportunities, and documenting assumptions and scenarios.
  • Maintain a log of demand assumptions and adjustments to historical actuals, including stock-outs, Buy Box issues, and price changes, while separating baseline from promotional demand.
  • Build scenario plans when inputs such as pricing or assortment change.
  • Support the build and adoption of Pigment for demand planning and improve forecasting models, dashboards, and processes.
