About The Position

NV5 is a provider of professional and technical engineering and consulting solutions to public and private sector clients in the infrastructure, energy, construction, program management and environmental markets. We are looking for an Ecological Project Manager to join our growing Ecological Services Department. Our team regularly designs and permits residential, non-residential, mixed-use, institutional, roadway, environmental restoration, and trail system projects where a wide range of environmental services are required. These services include local, state, and federal environmental permitting, wetland delineations, wetland mitigation design, project development & environment studies (PD&E), preparation of open space/habitat management plans, environmental resource assessments, listed species assessments, gopher tortoise surveys, vegetation and wildlife surveys, and expert witness testimonies. We work in a team atmosphere where collaboration, flexibility, and self-motivation are important.

Requirements

  • BS/MS Environmental Studies or BS/MS Biology or Natural Studies field degree from an accredited program
  • Society of Wetland Scientists
  • FWCC Gopher Tortoise Agent
  • Botany
  • Threatened and Endangered Species
  • Wide-ranging agency experience
  • Water Management Districts (WMD)
  • US Fish and Wildlife (USFWS)
  • Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC)

Responsibilities

  • Client development, marketing, and project management
  • Work on a wide variety of environmental permitting, environmental planning, environmental compliance monitoring, and natural resources projects as they relate to land development, transportation, and environmental restoration-focused projects
  • Prepare Environmental Resource Assessments to support project applications
  • Delineate jurisdictional wetland lines to be approved by appropriate permitting agency
  • Assess and analyze project impacts to identify permit requirements; and develop strategies to avoid or minimize impacts and permit requirements
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal environmental permitting agencies and staff
  • Coordinate with clients and other professional disciplines
  • Support senior ecological staff and other project managers across NV5 in completing required environmental studies, documents, and reports
  • Research and interpret scientific studies, regulatory programs, guidance, and applications
  • Assimilate and manage data, provide creative graphical representations of complex information
  • Work with geographic positioning tools and information systems
  • Managing multidisciplinary teams
  • Owning project budgets, schedules, and QA/QC
  • Serving as client-facing regulatory advisor
  • Driving business development/proposal capture
