About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with an engineering background to support our supply chain organization. The mandate of the selected candidate will be to provide project leadership, engineering liaison, and technical expertise to deliver on key technical projects impacting our business. Relying on strong project management skills and influential leadership, the candidate will be accountable for initiating, leading, and delivering various types of projects within set timelines and budgets. The scope of the project includes supplier requests for work transfers, material obsolescence, manufacturing process & design changes, and the occasional technical investigation. The candidate will also have a voice in our strategic sourcing review process based on the knowledge and network built with various suppliers. A key to success will be to have or develop a strong network with our numerous suppliers worldwide, along with multiple internal organizations (Engineering, Inspection, Metrology, Quality, Lab, Procurement, and many others). The projects will span across a wide variety of product families, thus requiring a good overall understanding of externals, controls, and turbomachinery components from a manufacturing and design/test perspective.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate university degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field of study)
  • 10+ years of pertinent experience in Engineering/Operations/Project Management
  • Knowledge of Project Management processes and tools (PMP certification is an asset)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting in front of a group (including senior leadership)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds and communication styles.
  • Knowledge of Supplier Operations (Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering) and an understanding of the Strategic and Business aspect of Supply Chain Projects
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Demonstrated influential leadership and initiative
  • Autonomous, organized, and efficient
  • Knowledge of ERP and PLM systems (such as SAP and Enovia)
  • Good knowledge of the English language, written and oral, is required for this position considering the operational needs of the Employer and the people with whom the [candidate] will be called upon to interact.

Responsibilities

  • Autonomously manage projects related to engineering changes and supplier transitions from start to finish within time, cost, scope, and quality constraints.
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams in a matrix organization across multiple locations and time zones.
  • Develop and implement a project plan.
  • Manage progress and performance.
  • Identify, resolve, and escalate project issues and risks to meet project deliverables.
  • Act as a point of contact with suppliers and as the liaison between internal stakeholders (Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Operations).
  • Manage priorities impacting different product assemblies to resolve project challenges, escalating to senior-level management as required.
  • Identify and lead cost reduction projects.
  • Leverage Engineering & Operations network to help drive various technical issues to closure.
  • Investigate, develop, and implement new tools and processes to improve the team’s efficiency.
