ECAD Designer

Veoneer Safety Systems USA•Southfield, MI

About The Position

Veoneer Safety Systems is hiring an ECAD Designer to design cost-effective, high-reliability printed circuit boards for automotive applications. The role emphasizes manufacturability, signal integrity, power integrity, and robust production release. The designer will create PCB layouts using Altium, perform design-for-manufacturing checks, conduct signal- and power-integrity simulations using ANSYS, and incorporate simulation results into final designs. The position is based in Southfield, Michigan. The ECAD Designer will collaborate with PCB suppliers, EMC specialists, and electrical design engineers to translate fabrication and project requirements into reliable designs suitable for automotive mass production. The role also includes PCB-level analysis and bench verification, documenting design and test activities, and preparing release materials such as fabrication and assembly drawings, Gerber files, BOMs, and revision-controlled design documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of PCB layout experience.
  • Fluency with the Altium design workflow.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical concepts.
  • Detail-oriented approach and ability to document test plans, execute test procedures, and generate reports.
  • Knowledge of PCB layout practices that support EMC performance and manufacturing requirements.
  • Knowledge of high-speed PCB design concepts, impedance control, and signal-quality optimization within the layout.
  • Understanding of PCB fabrication processes and laminate material selection.
  • Experience using a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) to verify trace impedance and signal quality.
  • Self-driven, proactive approach to completing tasks and solving problems.
