About The Position

At Bayer, we are seeking an East Coast Site Security Specialist to provide comprehensive security support for all employees, contractors, and business entities at the East Coast Sites, including executive protection for business leaders. This role is crucial in managing the development and implementation of security programs, ensuring the protection of people and property in alignment with the N.A. Director of Security's objectives. The specialist will be responsible for recommending and implementing security best practices, managing access control systems, and overseeing technical physical security systems to ensure compliance and functionality. Project management, financial forecasting for security initiatives, and effective collaboration with real estate and facilities personnel are key aspects of this position. Additionally, the role involves developing and delivering specialized training on topics such as Workplace Violence Mitigation and Active Shooter Threat Response, conducting tabletop exercises, and engaging with external law enforcement partners. The specialist will also be responsible for security threat intelligence analysis, staying abreast of industry changes and internal regulations, and supporting investigations related to various security concerns. Coordination with third-party security vendors and ensuring efficient business support are also integral to the role. The position requires availability for after-hours emergencies and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the timely implementation of security policies and incident reporting.

Requirements

  • Law enforcement, military, and/or corporate security experience.
  • Must have the ability to carry a firearm in the protection of site personnel under the constraints outlined under the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) aka HR 218.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the Retired Police Officer (RPO) concealed carry License through the New Jersey State Police.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma with requisite experience is required.
  • Must be a strong communicator in all aspects - written, verbal, and able to present to groups.
  • Must be able to support Executive Protection assignments and travel, as necessary.
  • Perform other related security duties as needed or requested.
  • Abide by the policies established by Bayer including Bayer Security Policies and its Use of Force Policy.
  • Ability to maintain all certifications and training as required by jurisdiction of authority and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be available to work weekends as needed up to 75% of time.
  • Must be available to travel 25% of time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of security programs at the East Coast Sites, NJ, designed to protect people and property in support of the N.A. Director of Security.
  • Provide recommendations, subject matter expertise, best practices, and methods for developing, implementing, and managing the planning for East Coast site security services.
  • Manage the development of the framework for the implementation of operational security standards to ensure consistent application of security standards for the East Coast sites in the preservation of Bayer global reputation, integrity, and asset protection.
  • Manage the access control systems and badging in conjunction with Pass & ID personnel to ensure the appropriate level of access is assigned, and proper on/offboarding is conducted.
  • Recommend, implement, maintain, and manage all technical physical security systems to ensure they are functioning properly and compliant with the required site security measures and standards.
  • Manage security projects and participate on management teams while forecasting specific financial requirements; lead the cascade of information flow regarding the implementation of new security projects through effective collaboration with Bayer East Coast real estate and facilities personnel.
  • Provide and execute specific training related to Workplace Violence Mitigation, Active Shooter Threat Response, Site Security Procedures, Biological, Chemical, and Regulatory Security Compliance. Strategically develop and lead training sessions/tabletop exercises while engaging external law enforcement partners, providing comprehensive information/educational materials, and evaluating overall performance while addressing strategies to support after-action lessons learned.
  • Ensure the protection of all Site personnel and products, fulfilling both the requirements of Federal, state, and local laws with additional parameters provided by the N.A. Director of Security.
  • Provide effective security threat intelligence analysis to ensure the safeguarding of our personnel and facilities while preserving the company’s reputation and integrity against internal/external risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Be aware of the industry changes and continuously maintain an effective working knowledge of internal regulations and guidelines, as well as key processes and guidelines relating to security. (Physical, Biological, IT, Cyber, Intellectual Property, Regulated Chemicals of Interest, FDA Compliance Program, etc.).
  • Guide security and recommend continuous improvement measures related to all East Coast events.
  • Support internal and external investigations at the East Coast sites, which relate to such areas as anti-counterfeiting, theft, financial fraud, assaults, extortion, workplace violence, and pressure group threats. Recommend appropriate response actions in cases of accidents, criminal incidents, and investigations regarding mitigation proposals after developing an expert report of findings.
  • Maintain a functioning framework for the passage of security intelligence information, changes in security policies/procedures, or regulatory compliance measures; develop and execute onboarding security awareness trainings and facilitate know-how protection campaigns.
  • Coordinate with the 3rd party security national account vendor in implementing and maintaining efficient and effective business support at the East Coast sites as delineated under the Bayer Master Services Agreement.
  • Be available to respond to after-hours emergencies at the site, as necessary.
  • Collaborate with and train site employees and security personnel while recommended security implementation upgrades and policies.
  • Develop reporting mechanisms while strategically collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure Bayer security policies/procedures are implemented and incidents are reported appropriately and timely to Corporate Security Management.
  • Participate or lead programs, trainings, workshops, security know-how campaigns and the implementation of directives that enhance the personal security of Bayer employees within their workplace.
