About The Position

The Earthwork Superintendent is responsible and accountable for the safety of the crews under their direction. This role involves understanding and communicating PRINCE safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance in all areas of safety, while identifying the needs for crew safety training. The Superintendent oversees and coordinates the activities of field employees, assesses their competency and capability on the project, and evaluates the capabilities of crew members. They are responsible for recognizing and addressing issues/problems that may arise among crew members and providing effective resolutions. Additionally, the Superintendent is accountable for following project plans and schedules, ensuring crews meet production goals, and identifying and communicating schedule needs and deficiencies to the appropriate persons. This role involves translating general work requirements into prioritized work plans for each crew, reviewing and adjusting workforce activities and task schedules to meet production goals, and identifying, verifying, and reporting any scheduling conflicts with other crews and subcontractors. The Superintendent is also accountable for preparing reports as required by PRINCE, approving material requisitions, and maintaining employee time reporting.

Requirements

  • Must possess five (5) years in heavy highway construction with knowledge of project construction scope and objectives to include, but not limited to grade, slope, reading and understanding plans, and drainage
  • Ability to read drawings and interpret specifications for the project
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of scheduling and planning
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to apply effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Must possess excellent time management skills
  • Must possess a clean Florida or Georgia driver’s license
  • Must be able to stand, kneel, walk, lift 60 pounds, bend, stoop, push and pull
  • Must be able to work on average ten (10) hours per day, five days (and occasionally six days) per week
  • All work is performed outdoors and around heavy highway traffic areas
