We are seeking a Research/Clinical Development Ophthalmology Trainee to join the Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) and Late-Stage Product Development (PD) organizations. The successful candidate will focus on developing novel in vitro disease models for understanding disease pathogenesis and/or test novel therapeutic hypotheses for in vitro and in vivo. This is a hands-on laboratory position with abundant opportunity for collaboration with other researchers in a highly dynamic and interdisciplinary environment. Technical, as well as, intellectual contributions to the team are expected. This is a two year fixed-contract to provide the opportunity to perform discovery research in the area of ocular diseases and to gain specialized, in-depth training and experience in global, late stage, drug development at Genentech, a global, research-focused healthcare company. You will have the opportunity to perform discovery research in retinal degeneration focus areas. You will demonstrate the ability to conceive, plan, and conduct independent research. You will have a positive, resilient, and collaborative attitude with the ability to develop novel hypotheses and drive projects. You will join cross-functional teams responsible for the overall program strategy and design, implementation, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of studies.
