About The Position

The Early Literacy Tutor or Teacher provides supplemental literacy instruction to K–3 students who require additional support in reading. The role delivers small-group instruction focused on foundational literacy skills, develops lesson plans, monitors student progress, collaborates with classroom teachers and reading specialists, and supports student achievement through evidence-based literacy practices.

Requirements

High school diploma required.
Must meet Virginia Department of Education certification requirements, including: Title IX Training, Mandated Reporting Training, Suicide Prevention Training.
Strong knowledge of early literacy instruction and foundational reading skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and reading specialists.
Strong communication, organizational, and recordkeeping skills.
Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students.

Nice To Haves

Active Virginia Teaching License preferred for Teacher-level position.

Responsibilities

Provide supplemental literacy instruction to K–3 students in small groups.

Follow the instructional schedule established by school personnel.
