About The Position

Early Learning Corps is hiring tutors to work in pre-kindergarten classrooms and help young students build early literacy and math skills, confidence, and a love of learning. Tutors partner with a classroom teacher, support students through activities such as talking, reading, writing, singing, and playing, and receive training and ongoing coaching. Positions run from August 2026 through June 2027. Full-time schedules are 35 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks with holidays or school release days; part-time positions are also available at 25 or 18 hours per week. Hours are during the day and correspond with school start and end times, Monday through Friday, with no weekends. Members have time off on holidays and school release days. Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks. Stipend amounts and education awards are available on the organization's careers page.

Requirements

• Be dependable and have a history of good attendance.
• Be able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback.
• Be proficient in basic computer skills, such as email and navigating online.
• Be fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
• Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent by the time services begin.
• Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Be able to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping students thrive.
• Support preschoolers with learning activities throughout the day.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's on-site coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into tracking software.
• Commit to personal growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
