About The Position

The Early Learning Center Department Director is responsible for the overall operation and administration of MCCAA’s daycare program. This role provides leadership, management, and oversight of program planning, financial systems, personnel management, compliance, and community engagement to ensure alignment with DHS Licensing Standards, CACFP requirements, agency policies, and best practices in early childhood education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Child and Family Studies, Educational Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in childcare, early childhood education, or a similar program.
  • At least three (3) years of administrative or leadership experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of DHS childcare licensing standards and CACFP requirements strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative leadership, management, and supervision in program planning, including strategic planning, community assessment, performance analysis, and training needs assessment.
  • Ensure effective and efficient implementation of childcare services across all sites.
  • Monitor and evaluate service delivery systems to ensure compliance with DHS licensing, CACFP, and agency requirements.
  • Provide leadership and support for family and community involvement through parent engagement opportunities that strengthen the home-to-school connection.
  • Represent the organization at community boards, partnerships, and committees.
  • Build relationships with local schools, organizations, and agencies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain program management systems to support documentation and compliance, including enrollment and attendance reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with DHS licensing, CACFP, TN Department of Health, and other applicable regulations.
  • Conduct continuous program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Advocate for families and children enrolled in MCCAA childcare programs.
  • Lead recruitment and enrollment efforts to maintain full program capacity.
  • Secure and document in-kind contributions and volunteer support in compliance with agency requirements.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, committees, workshops, and conferences at local, state, and national levels.
  • Recommend revisions to policies and procedures to align with DHS licensing standards and early childhood best practices.
  • Manage special projects and assignments delegated by the Deputy Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
