About The Position

Unity House is seeking patient and kind Early Childhood Teachers passionate about working with children ages six weeks to five years. This role involves working with children in a pre-school setting, supporting all aspects of their care, and guiding classroom staff to ensure high-quality programming. The position requires maintaining a clean, safe, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes children's development and fostering an inclusive atmosphere for children, families, and staff. The agency is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency committed to social justice and improving the lives of children and families.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education; or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; or Minimum of 9 college credits in Early Childhood Education with experience working with infants and toddlers.
  • Experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 18 months preferred.
  • Strong flexibility and ability to adapt as program needs change throughout the day.
  • Dependable, responsible, and committed to maintaining consistent attendance.
  • Ability to pass required background checks in accordance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work with children in a pre-school setting.
  • Work productively with Childcare Manager to ensure the safe and nurturing functioning of the facility.
  • Support all aspects of children’s care, including feeding, diapering, supervision, engagement, and developmental activities.
  • Guide and collaborate with classroom staff to ensure consistent, high-quality care and programming.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Create and sustain a warm, nurturing, and responsive environment that promotes children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Assist colleagues and support overall program operations as needed.
  • Maintain required MAT (Medication Administration Training) certification.
  • Promote and model an environment of inclusion, respect, and belonging for children, families, and staff.
