About The Position

Responsible for providing specialized support to early childhood programs through a variety of professional development opportunities. This role involves providing professional development and technical assistance for child care providers, participating in environmental rating scale practice observations, utilizing technology for professional development delivery, submitting requests for materials, and supporting provider networks. The specialist will also compile and submit reports, respond to inquiries, participate in continuous improvement activities, and attend relevant meetings and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in early childhood, elementary education, special education or child development accepted.
  • Abide by all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, and policies related to the program and relevant grants.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Utilize technology to enter, retrieve, and process information and communicate electronically.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Work collaboratively.
  • Successfully clearing the background check process, which may include: criminal background check, education verification, references, drug testing, motor vehicle records, sex offender registry, Child Protective Services check, and federal grants debarred list.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Able to travel extensively; requires the need for flexible scheduling, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Adhere to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain STARS career pathway enrollment and STARS trainer credential.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
  • Access information using a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional development and technical assistance for child care providers.
  • Participate in environmental rating scale practice observations as assigned.
  • Utilize available technology to support professional development delivery.
  • Submit requests for materials, supplies, and training resource materials.
  • Support initiation and continuation of provider networks and associations to improve quality of care.
  • Compile and submit reports within established timelines.
  • Respond to any inquiries within a timely manner.
  • Participate in ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement activities.
  • Participate in all required committees, conferences, meetings and training relevant to the program and/or agency.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
