About The Position

TheraPeds Partners is hiring a school-based Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year in Hot Springs, South Dakota. This is a full-time, on-site preschool position with guaranteed hours, designated planning and documentation time, a manageable caseload, and support from TheraPeds and the school district. The role offers 36–40 hours per week and follows the teacher/school calendar.

The teacher will collaborate with students, families, and school teams to provide individualized instruction and help students access education, build skills, and make meaningful progress. The position involves developing and monitoring IEP goals and services, adapting instruction, documenting progress, participating in assessments and eligibility processes, and serving as case manager for assigned students. The teacher will also support positive behavior, inclusion, independence, and participation across school environments.

Compensation is listed at $45–$55 per hour. W-2 employees may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits, among other supports. 1099 independent contractor opportunities may also be available, with terms and benefits dependent on the applicable agreement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
• Valid South Dakota teaching license/certificate with an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Birth–Grade 3 endorsement.
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, eligibility, progress monitoring, and special education procedures.
• Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Good organization and time-management skills.
• Comfort with educational technology, data collection, and documentation.
• Ability to complete required background clearances.
• Ability to perform physical functions necessary for assigned responsibilities, which may include sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, transitioning to and from the floor, and engaging with students throughout school environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and small-group special education instruction.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and services.
• Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Collect data and monitor academic, behavioral, and functional progress.
• Complete progress reports, IEP documentation, and required records.
• Conduct or participate in educational assessments and eligibility processes.
• Serve as a case manager for assigned students.
• Participate in IEP, eligibility, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related-service providers, paraprofessionals, families, and administrators.
• Support positive behavior, inclusion, independence, and student participation across school environments.
