About The Position

As an Early Childhood Program Specialist 2, you will assist in implementing the educational curriculum and supporting the overall operation of an infant, toddler, preschool, or school-age classroom. In this role, you will help maintain a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment; support child assessments; and assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating children’s activities. You will interact regularly with children and parents, help direct student staff and volunteers, and assist in maintaining required records. Additionally, you will support maintaining a classroom environment that meets childcare licensing and accreditation standards and contribute to providing feedback and evaluating the progress of student staff. You may also temporarily assume leadership of the classroom in the absence of the Early Childhood Program Specialist 3.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in an early childhood program and thirty quarter credit hours in early childhood development/education/special education; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Associates degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Development OR Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
  • Must meet the required criteria of having 12 aligned college credits in ECE Core Competencies or a CDA (Child Development Associate) within 5 years of hire.
  • Must meet and understand the requirements for WAC 110-300-0120 Providing for personal, professional, and health needs of staff.
  • Must meet and understand the requirements for WAC 110-300-0105 Preservice requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years experience with children in group child care setting.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices with young children.
  • Experience working with infants/toddlers in an education or childcare setting.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills with parents, children and co-workers.
