About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is seeking a hands-on Early Learning Director / Lead Teacher to support and lead the Preschool classroom at its Early Learning Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. This is primarily a classroom-based position: approximately 80–90% of each day is spent working directly with children in ratio as the Lead Teacher. Administrative and leadership responsibilities make up a smaller portion of the role and are completed in short blocks throughout the day or outside direct classroom time. The position is suited to an experienced early childhood professional who enjoys teaching, leading by example, and contributing to program quality in a supportive, team-based environment. The role includes leading the classroom, planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons, supporting positive adult-child interactions, observing and assessing children, and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment. It also includes communication and engagement with families and the community, participation in program-quality improvement and professional development, and limited center leadership and administrative responsibilities. This is a part-time, non-exempt position scheduled for approximately 25–30 hours per week within center hours of 6:30 AM–6:30 PM. Pay is $17.00–$20.00 per hour. Employer-paid childcare is available for school-age children ages 5–12 enrolled in the program on the days and during the hours the employee works. The organization operates Early Learning, Before and After School, and Summer Camp programs at more than 150 locations and describes itself as a certified benefit corporation focused on accessible, affordable childcare and positive community impact.
