Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience in early childhood education or a related field, or an Associate/Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, human services, or a similar discipline.
  • Experience working with children ages 0-5 and their families, with a focus on early childhood education or a related field.
  • Knowledge of child development and developmental milestones, with the ability to communicate this information effectively to parents.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to connect with colleagues, parents and children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Organizational and multitasking abilities to manage class schedules, developmental screenings, and data entry responsibilities.
  • Cultural competence and humility, with a passion for working with families from diverse communities, including English language learners.
  • Physical ability to move tables, chairs, and children's equipment

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead parent-child interactive classes on topics such as infant playgroups, art, music, early math and science, and other social-emotional & school readiness classes for children ages 0-5 years.
  • Guide parents in learning developmentally appropriate activities that support their child’s growth, fostering parent-child bonding and communication.
  • Share information on developmental milestones and how to support their child’s progress at various stages of early development.
  • Provide tools and strategies for parents to continue engaging their children in learning activities outside of the Center, promoting ongoing development at home.
  • Facilitate parent education activities that cover topics such as parenting strategies, child development, ways to support their child's learning, and community building.
  • Conduct developmental screenings to assess the progress of children and identify areas where additional support may be needed.
  • Ensure accurate data entry for developmental screenings, class participation, and other relevant program information into the database.
  • Collaborate with the team to continuously improve programs, ensuring that they are inclusive, supportive, and culturally responsive to the diverse needs of families.
