About The Position

This position supports students in the general classroom and alternative learning settings to manage behaviors and support learning. It involves establishing a positive rapport with students, co-workers, and parents, and working cooperatively with team members to outline and evaluate behavior plans. The role requires documenting student progress, conducting observations, and working collaboratively with district staff and families to create supportive learning environments. The facilitator will also participate in the implementation and revision of student behavior programs, supervise student activities, and participate in professional development. Support for personal student cares such as washing hands, bathrooming, and eating is also part of the role. The position may be assigned to more than one school and includes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years successful post high school education.
  • At least one year of work experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills, knowledge of programming for students with behavior disorders.
  • Requires hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination, keyboarding and telephoning.
  • Frequent repetitive motions with wrists, hands, fingers.
  • Frequent physical management of students.
  • Regular, reliable attendance.
  • Experience with behavior management.
  • Ability to use a computer for word processing and data entry.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Regular contact with students with emotional, cognitive and/or conduct-related disorders.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in the general classroom and alternative learning settings to manage behaviors and support learning.
  • Establishes a positive rapport with students, co-workers and parents which conveys enthusiasm and caring.
  • Works cooperatively with team members to outline a behavior plan and evaluate the plan's appropriateness and need for modifications.
  • Works with individual students in 1:1 and small group settings to reinforce behavioral goals/objectives outlined by the problem-solving team.
  • Document student progress on behavior and goals.
  • Conducts observations and collects classroom teacher documentation needed for referral and reintegration procedures.
  • Works collaboratively with district staff and families to create supportive, inclusive, and respectful learning environments for all students, particularly students who exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • Participates in the implementation and revision of student behavior programs.
  • Supervises student activities, when needed.
  • Participates in professional development as required and when requested by the District.
  • Supports personal cares of students (washing hands, bath rooming, eating, etc.).
  • May be assigned to more than one school by supervisors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
