About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Process Engineer to join its Advanced Solutions Group. The group designs, constructs, and operates research and development facilities serving industries including nuclear, automotive, motorsports, defense, and aerospace. The engineer will contribute to multiple projects in a dynamic environment, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver client projects within scope, budget, and schedule. The position is based at one of Amentum’s offices in Tullahoma, Tennessee; Farmington Hills, Michigan; or Greenville, South Carolina. Under the direction of a Senior Engineer, the engineer will plan, coordinate, and carry out engineering work using established engineering techniques and criteria. Work includes developing process-system designs for research and test facilities; analyzing design features and requirements; preparing technical reports, presentations, calculations, specifications, preliminary layouts, sketches, and engineering drawings; and collaborating with project teams and clients. Systems may include high-pressure cryogenic and pneumatic piping, high-temperature and steam systems, refrigeration, vacuum and fuel systems, and specialty HVAC. Field work and travel may be required to support design reviews, factory acceptance testing, construction, startup, and commissioning. Work is mainly performed in an office environment. Field activities may involve climbing test stands and working around machinery. The stated compensation range is $70,000–$90,000. Amentum lists health, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off and holidays; retirement benefits including 401(k) matching; educational reimbursement; parental leave; an employee stock purchase plan; tax-saving options; disability and life insurance; and pet insurance. Benefits may vary by employment type, location, and applicable agreements.
