About The Position

SACOG's Early Career Experience Internship Program is a paid, six-week, 20-hour-per-week opportunity designed for students to develop skills, build networks, and make a difference in our community. This internship is fully in-person, providing interns with hands-on experience and direct collaboration with staff and project teams. This year, internship opportunities are available in two focus areas: Transportation Team Internship - Gain exposure to transportation planning, sustainable mobility initiatives, and regional safety planning projects. Interns may assist with transportation research, mobility program support, and regional partnership activities while learning about current transportation issues and community-focused planning efforts. Finance Team Internship - Gain hands-on experience in public-sector finance through support with fiscal year closeout activities, project financial analysis, budgeting, and grant management. Interns will work alongside the Finance Team to learn about financial operations and project coordination in a collaborative government environment. This program is ideal for individuals who are curious about public service, eager to learn, and excited to build professional skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. This six-week internship program is open to all students who meet the criteria of the program. And, recognizing that our region is diverse in many ways, we particularly want to invite participation of students from varied or diverse groups (examples include geographic background, limited socioeconomic means, race/ethnicity, gender or gender identity, religion, and the differently abled).
