About The Position

WSP is seeking a full-time Early Career Architect for its New York City office, focusing on projects within the Transportation Facilities Group (TFG). TFG specializes in leading and designing projects that support local and regional growth through transportation initiatives. The group has over 60 engineers and architects across the Northeast Region, with major design hubs in New York City, Boston, St. Louis, and San Francisco. This role offers diverse project experience in the NY Metro Region, working under the supervision of a senior architect. Responsibilities include designing rail and bus stations, educational facilities, airports, transportation hubs, and rail systems, often supporting engineering divisions. Clients include major transportation authorities and local utilities. The position involves varied project scales and offers exposure to multiple disciplines within the New York Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, or Bachelor of Arts/ Science in Architecture with a Masters in Architecture
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience
  • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework
  • Understanding of building codes including, NY State, and NYC Building Codes
  • Knowledge of construction drawing standards
  • Solid understanding of architectural tools (AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp, Microstation, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Nice To Haves

  • Recent graduate in an accredited Architecture or related, Undergraduate or Graduate program
  • The successful candidate will have 0-3 years of internship experience in Architecture
  • Experience using Revit, AutoCAD and/or Microstation Software

Responsibilities

  • Development of Architectural drawings and specifications including renderings and presentation boards
  • Code compliance for new construction and renovations of transportation related facilities
  • Perform local and/or regional site inspections/investigations of projects
  • Attend meetings
  • Project Coordination
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
