About The Position

As a member of the BakerRipley Rural Capital team, you will join an incredibly talented and hardworking Child Care Services department dedicated to supporting early learning programs across the Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area service region. Our team serves communities throughout the nine counties surrounding Travis County while advancing high-quality early childhood education and strengthening outcomes for children, families, and educators. The Early Education Mentor is a relationship-driven professional who supports child care programs participating in Texas Rising Star (TRS). This role provides mentoring, technical assistance, coaching, training support, monitoring preparation, and continuous quality improvement guidance to early childhood programs. The Mentor partners closely with providers to strengthen program quality, improve classroom practices, support inclusion efforts, and maintain compliance with Texas Rising Star standards, Child Care Regulation requirements, and Workforce Solutions Rural Capital policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of full-time classroom experience in a child care program, Early Head Start, Head Start, or Pre-K through 3rd grade school program
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development and quality improvement practices
  • Ability to build professional relationships and provide coaching and support to providers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new software systems quickly
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License required
  • Current auto liability insurance required
  • Ability to travel throughout the Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area service region
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Child Psychology, Educational Psychology, Elementary Education, or Family and Consumer Sciences; OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in another field, with a minimum of 12 credit hours in Early Childhood Education AND 18 credit hours in Child Development, Special Education, Child Psychology, Educational Psychology, Elementary Education, or Family and Consumer Sciences; OR Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Child Psychology, Educational Psychology, Elementary Education, or Family and Consumer Sciences, along with a minimum of two years of experience serving as a director in an early childhood program.
  • Have a minimum of one year of full-time early childhood classroom experience in a child care center, Early Head Start, Head Start, or prekindergarten through third-grade school program
  • Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Maintain current automobile liability insurance

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in programs that are nationally accredited or Texas Rising Star certified.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mentoring and technical assistance to early learning programs participating in Texas Rising Star (TRS)
  • Conduct on-site and virtual mentoring visits, technical assistance visits, and monitoring preparation visits
  • Support providers in strengthening classroom quality, program systems, and TRS certification readiness
  • Assist in the development and implementation of inclusion supports for programs serving children with disabilities
  • Monitor provider progress and support compliance with contractual regulations and TRS standards
  • Conduct follow-up support visits related to Service Improvement Agreements (SIAs)
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with Texas Workforce Commission and Board requirements
  • Update and maintain required data and workforce information systems
  • Ensure provider files contain all required documentation, including licensing records, agreements, and compliance documentation
  • Collaborate with Child Care Services staff and community partners to enhance program operations and service delivery
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development activities
  • Provide support during evening or weekend trainings and events as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
