About The Position

VTG is looking for an Ohio based E-Rate Sales Representative who will play a critical role in bridging the digital divide for Ohio’s students, providing school districts and educational institutions critical technology services using the E-Rate funding vehicle. In this role, your mission is to guide Superintendents and IT Directors through the complexities of the E-Rate cycle to ensure their schools are equipped with modern, secure, and reliable technology. Additionally, you will focus on selling our full suite of MSP products and service offerings, specifically with networking, infrastructure, and managed security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 3+ years of B2B sales experience, specifically selling into the SLED (State, Local, and Education) market.
  • Familiarity with the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) funding process, including the difference between Category 1 (Connectivity) and Category 2 (Internal Connections/Managed Internal Broadband Services).
  • Must be based in or have a proven track record of selling within the Ohio K-12 school district ecosystem.
  • A high-level understanding of networking infrastructure (switches, routers, access points) and basic Cybersecurity principles.
  • Proven ability to work and thrive in an environment with defined activity expectations (calls, emails, and meetings).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in CRM software for tracking sales activities (e.g., Salesforce).

  • Proven background in the Education (K-12/Higher Ed) vertical with specific expertise in the E-rate funding process.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a consistent, high-volume cadence of outbound activity (calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach).
  • Convert cold outreach into qualified discovery meetings and presentations.
  • Consistently identify and qualify new sales opportunities to meet monthly and quarterly pipeline requirements.
  • Leverage industry events, conferences, and online platforms to generate leads.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develops tailored proposals to address client requirements.
  • Deliver compelling presentations to prospective clients, showcasing VTG's value proposition.
  • Negotiate and close deals, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify new market opportunities.
  • Proactively track USAC filings to identify qualified sales opportunities, evaluate RFPs, and craft competitive, technically sound bids that strictly adhere to E-Rate Lowest Corresponding Price (LCP) rules.
  • Partner with school districts and libraries during the application window to provide accurate pricing, technical specifications, and detailed Item 21 attachments required for their submissions.
  • Verify that services are successfully delivered and operational, confirming clients are fully prepared to file their Form 486 to certify CIPA compliance and the start of service.
  • Manage the funding close-out process by either executing direct Service Provider Invoicing (SPI / Form 474) or providing clients with the necessary documentation for Billed Entity Applicant Reimbursement (BEAR / Form 472).
