About The Position

Sphere is seeking an experienced leader to spearhead its global e-invoicing strategy and contribute to the development of a top-tier e-invoicing platform for their clients. This role requires a blend of deep knowledge in global indirect tax and e-invoicing regulations, coupled with strong product and systems thinking, to create adaptable solutions that help clients meet evolving global mandates. The position operates at the nexus of Tax, Product, and Engineering, translating intricate regulatory demands into product features deployable across numerous countries. The individual will be responsible for defining the e-invoicing product roadmap, prioritizing market expansion, and ensuring the platform stays ahead of global regulatory shifts. This is a significant opportunity to influence a core company product and shape the future of business tax compliance in a digital landscape.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in indirect tax, tax technology, VAT/GST, or global tax compliance.
  • 3+ years direct e-invoicing experience
  • Experience designing or implementing e-invoicing solutions across multiple countries.
  • Strong experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to build tax technology products.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into scalable product specifications and technical requirements.
  • Excellent program management skills with experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance regulatory requirements, customer needs, and product scalability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or managing a commercial e-invoicing platform or tax technology product.
  • Experience with PEPPOL, clearance models, CTC frameworks, and real-time reporting systems.
  • Experience integrating with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or NetSuite.
  • Familiarity with APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise software architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the company's subject matter expert on global e-invoicing, real-time digital reporting requirements, and related indirect tax regulations.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to translate regulatory requirements into scalable product features and technical requirements.
  • Define country-specific business requirements, validation rules, invoice schemas, and compliance workflows for new market launches.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify implementation, reduce operational complexity, and improve the customer experience.
  • Own the global e-invoicing strategy for our platform, defining the roadmap and priorities for expanding our product across international markets.
  • Monitor emerging global e-invoicing regulations and proactively incorporate regulatory changes into our product roadmap.
  • Prioritize implementation efforts based on customer demand, regulatory deadlines, and strategic business objectives.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success, Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Implementation teams to support customer onboarding and successful deployments.
  • Represent the company internally and externally as a trusted expert on global e-invoicing and digital tax compliance.
  • Build the foundation for a world-class global e-invoicing program that enables customers to confidently comply with evolving tax regulations.
