Chemours is seeking an Electrician to join our growing team! This position will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor in our Starke, Florida location. Safely perform highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with electrical systems for mining and mineral processing facilities operating 24-hours per day, 7-days per week maximizing equipment availability and reducing downtime. Electrician will support active operations by maintaining and servicing mechanical and electrical machinery, instrumentation, control, lighting and fixtures, outlets and wiring, generators as well as install, replace, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical distribution systems including electric motors, transformers, switchgear, starters, and MCC’s. Preferred candidate will be a qualified industrial electrician capable of working closely with maintenance and operations teams in a mining and mineral processing environment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge Of: Methods and techniques of troubleshooting, repairing and installing plant equipment.
  • Knowledge Of: Programmable logic controls, co-processors, DCS, SCADA and wireless systems.
  • Knowledge Of: Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications.
  • Ability To: Troubleshoot and maintain plant equipment, machinery and related facilities.
  • Ability To: Operate power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment .
  • Ability To: Operate office equipment including computers and supporting software applications.
  • Ability To: Adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems.
  • Ability To: Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability To: Establish and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Physical Requirements: Frequently ascends or descends ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Physical Requirements: Perform heavy manual labor when needed such as moving and installing equipment in different weather conditions.
  • Physical Requirements: Frequently lifts or moves up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical Requirements: Position requires working near and around operating mechanical parts and mobile equipment and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to read and interpret various plans and designs.
  • Physical Requirements: Capable of wearing personal protective equipment, such as hearing protectors and respirators, as necessary.
  • High School graduate and Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five (5) to ten (10) years related experience as an E&I Mechanic in an industrial environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code required and familiarity with NFPA Arc Flash safety regulations, valid Journeyman Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work is performed within company, state, and federal regulations, standards, statutes, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify and promote opportunities to improve mine safety performance, act as a safety leader.
  • Maintain and service all machinery, including mechanical and electrical, instrumentation, control, lighting and fixtures, outlets and wiring, generators, etc.
  • Install, replace, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical distribution systems including electric motors, transformers, switchgear, starters, and MCC’s.
  • Fabricate, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain DCS and PLC control systems, SCADA and wireless systems, control panels, control boxes, and specialized electrical equipment and machinery.
  • Complete open work orders and complete preventive maintenance activities as required by manufacturers OEM standards.
  • Assist mechanics in maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical and process equipment.
  • Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
  • Act as a Safety Leader to ensure individual and team Safety remain top priority in the planning and execution of all tasks.
  • Work closely with Company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) personnel targeting zero incidents and continuous improvement of mine site EHS performance.
  • Continuous improvement in maintenance approach, encourage initiatives intended to reduce safety risk, increase productivity and efficiency, reduce maintenance cost.
  • Work in a self-guided manner in the absence of supervision and demonstrate creativity, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative.
  • Report all personal injuries and EHS incidents and assist with both safety and environmental investigations.
  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areas.
  • Ability to read electrical circuit diagrams and specifications, OEM maintenance manuals and requirements, interpret blueprints and technical drawings to correctly assemble panels, control boxes, etc. Skills in reading complex instructions required.
  • Requisition material and supplies from stockroom; call vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies and recommend purchases and suppliers.
  • Transfer primary power from one source to another.
  • Install cables, conductors, wire tray, splice cables, build terminations and perform necessary hook-up for primary power lines.
  • Monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence to National Electrical Code Requirements and report back to supervisor.
  • Support down-day planning to accomplish required work per agreed cost and schedule.
  • Offer guidance and support to other maintenance personnel to further develop in-house technical expertise.
