About The Position

This position is for an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician located in Clermont, IN. The role works in and around petroleum products and crude oil facilities, performing electrical and controls/instrumentation duties at multiple area facilities in support of 24/7/365 pipeline operations. The position also provides field support to various other Marathon Pipe Line LLC processes and departments. The successful candidate will perform various duties, including maintenance and repair of medium-voltage equipment, calibration and troubleshooting of various transmitters and electronic devices, and programming of programmable logic controllers. The candidate should be able to troubleshoot problems and work both independently and in a team environment. All duties will be completed in accordance with regulations supporting DOT, environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance. Travel, call-outs, and overtime will be required on an as-needed basis. The successful candidate must live within 45 minutes of the reporting location in Clermont, IN.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous electrical or instrumentation experience required
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills required
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Must be able to pass a general background check as well as a motor vehicle background check

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or journeyman’s card in a related technical field preferred
  • Previous pipeline electrical and instrumentation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide E&I support for assigned assets, including pipelines, remote monitoring facilities, and pump stations.
  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and calibrate a wide variety of midstream instrumentation including, but not limited to, flow meters, transmitters, sensors, analyzers, data loggers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and distributed control systems (DCS).
  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical equipment including, but not limited to, motor control centers, generators, transformers, switches, relays, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, power distribution centers (PDCs), and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
  • Configure and program industrial control systems.
  • Perform loop checks, point-to-point verification, and other testing regimens.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and regulatory-compliant documentation.
  • Respond to and resolve station alarms and communicate findings to appropriate parties.
  • Generate computerized work requests for maintenance tasks, and coordinate and communicate maintenance activities.
