About The Position

OCL Group Inc. is seeking two highly organized and experienced E&I Quality Control Inspectors for a role focused on Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) scope, with a critical emphasis on the progressive development, review, and finalization of project turnover binders. The successful candidate will ensure that all E&I documentation meets client and regulatory standards, facilitating a seamless transition from construction to commissioning and final turnover. This position follows a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation, working 12-hour shifts at Kearl Oil Sands. This is a camp-based position with flights provided from Edmonton and/or Calgary.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician or Instrumentation Technician certification (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated track record of leading and finalizing E&I turnover binders for major projects.
  • Strong familiarity with ITR management, system handover processes, and project close-out requirements.
  • Deep understanding of E&I codes, standards, and typical oil and gas infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to handle concurrent deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for client and subcontractor interfacing.
  • Must be willing to complete necessary safety training and maintain a safety-conscious work environment.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing/criminal background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with project data management or turnover software (e.g., MC Plus, O3) is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the progressive development and compilation of E&I turnover binders, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and organization to meet client requirements for system turnover.
  • Perform quality oversight of E&I installations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, design drawings, and relevant codes (CEC/NEC).
  • Review and approve subcontractor quality documentation, including ITRs (Inspection Test Records), loop check reports, and cable test results.
  • Coordinate and witness testing activities including point-to-point checks, loop checks, insulation resistance (Megger) testing, and instrument calibration verification.
  • Organize and lead system walkdowns with client representatives and internal teams, identifying, documenting, and managing the tracking and close-out of punch-list items.
  • Act as the primary interface for E&I quality documentation between construction teams, engineering, and the client, maintaining status logs for RFIs, FCNs, and quality reports.
  • Manage the redlining process and verify that as-built drawings are accurately reflected in the final turnover package.
