About The Position

Del Real Foods is a traditional Mexican food manufacturer seeking a dedicated Quality Control Inspector I to join their family-oriented team. The company, which started as a family farm, now produces tamales, carnitas, salsas, and other recipes inspired by Jalisco, made by hand with fresh ingredients. The Quality Control Inspector I works under close supervision, following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and performing basic Quality Assurance assignments with guidance from a supervisor or higher-level inspector.

Requirements

  • Communication skills: Verbal and written ability to communicate information to QA Lead/supervisor and other team members.
  • Self-motivated, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Basic knowledge on HACCP and GMP requirements for employee practices in a USDA/FDA Establishment.
  • Knowledge of calibration requirements for all testing equipment used for monitoring tasks of food safety and quality.
  • Knowledge of employee safety practices.
  • Able to follow written instructions and procedures.
  • Knowledge of company employee policies.
  • Work in hot or cold and humid environment.
  • High School/ G.E.D

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience in the food industry preferred.
  • Bilingual is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution of food safety and quality checks on the line.
  • Provide technical assistance to operations regarding process deviation reports and product specifications.
  • Place product on hold that does not comply with food safety/quality or does not meet Del Real Foods specifications, including correctly filling out QA HOLD Tags and Release Information, clearly stating the reason for the hold and any other relative information, and investigating root cause and determining disposition/corrective action under the guidance of QA leaders.
  • Communicate deficiencies, food safety, and quality opportunities to Quality Assurance and Operations Management.
  • Promote, adhere to, and be responsible for the food safety and quality of products in the assigned area.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and employee safety requirements.
  • Perform basic food safety and quality inspections on the line(s), including addressing nonessential corrective actions under the guidance/supervision of a QA Lead/Supervisor.
  • Utilize basic knowledge of tools used in the scope of work, including but not limited to thermometers, pH Meters, x-ray, and metal detectors, weighing scales, Bostwick.
  • Apply basic food safety knowledge compatible with meat processing.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to the immediate lead, supervisor, or manager.
  • Read and fully understand basic daily forms and records to avoid repetitive errors on daily documentation.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of HACCP and report HACCP deviations to the immediate supervisor or lead.
  • Show basic understanding of quality assurance policies and procedures such as SQF (Facilities, Equipment, SSOP, SOP, GMP’s, etc.).
  • Report incidents or concerns of compliance issues with USA & FDA guidelines and regulations.
