About The Position

The I/E Designer will work with plant discipline engineers to develop plans and drawings and update various electrical and instrumentation documents. This role is responsible for the constructability, operability, and maintainability of the design within their discipline for assigned projects. They will provide comprehensive, efficient, and cost-effective technical input into design and prepare detailed design drawings. The designer will also provide guidance to drafters, communicate with the Lead Designer, and review drawings for quality and adherence to standards. An awareness of project schedule and budget is expected, and assistance with Project Audits may be required.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.
  • 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design.
  • Familiarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to perform lighting level calculations.
  • Ability to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications.
  • Ability to perform voltage drop calculations.
  • Ability to route conduit and cable tray.
  • Ability to calculate tray and conduit fill.
  • Ability to determine motor control center loading.
  • Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.
  • Ability to create accurate electrical installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.
  • Ability to determine load center unit substation loading.
  • Knowledge and understanding of workflow/information flow between disciplines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical deliverables.
  • Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Drawing file/archive system and SAP.
  • Good communication and Virtual team skills.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Develop plans and drawings for Electrical single line diagrams, Motor schematics, Power panels layouts and schedules, Electrical Grounding plans, Lighting plans, Equipment layout and plot plans.
  • Update Instrument loop sheets, Instrument junction boxes connection and fabricating details, Control panel connection and fabrication details, Distributive Control Systems termination diagrams, Wiring and Cable schedules, Bill of materials Instrument lists, Instrument spec sheets, P&IDs.
  • Update P&IDs with instrument details.
  • Ensure the constructability, operability, and maintainability of the design within his/her discipline for the assigned project.
  • Provide comprehensive, efficient, and cost-effective technical input into design related to his/her discipline for assigned projects.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings within his/her discipline, in accordance with engineering design, required as project deliverables.
  • Provide continual guidance to drafters within his/her discipline for assigned projects.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Lead Designer for respective discipline to promote smooth, accurate, and scheduled completion of deliverables.
  • Review drawings within his/her discipline for assigned projects on a regular basis for completeness, overall quality, and adherence to standards.
  • Ensure all drawings within his/her discipline for assigned projects have been properly checked and backchecked.
  • Prepare and/or direct the preparation of final drawing plots and copies for transmittal relative to all project deliverables.
  • Maintain an awareness of project schedule and budget.
  • Assist with Project Audits when required.
