About The Position

The I/E Designer will work with plant discipline engineers to develop plans and drawings and update various electrical and instrumentation documents. This role is responsible for the constructability, operability, and maintainability of the design within their discipline, providing efficient and cost-effective technical input. The designer will prepare detailed design drawings, provide guidance to drafters, and coordinate with the Lead Designer to ensure smooth and accurate completion of deliverables. They will also review drawings for completeness and quality, ensure proper checking and backchecking, and prepare final drawing plots. An awareness of project schedule and budget is essential, and assistance with Project Audits may be required.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.
  • 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design
  • Familiarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to perform lighting level calculations.
  • Ability to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications.
  • Ability to perform voltage drop calculations.
  • Ability to route conduit and cable tray.
  • Ability to calculate tray and conduit fill.
  • Ability to determine motor control center loading.
  • Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.
  • Ability to create accurate electrical installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.
  • Ability to determine load center unit substation loading.
  • Knowledge and understanding of workflow/information flow between disciplines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical deliverables.
  • Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • SPI Proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Drawing file/archive system and SAP.
  • Good communication and Virtual team skills
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the constructability, operability, and maintainability of the design within his/her discipline for the assigned project.
  • Provides comprehensive, efficient, and cost-effective technical input into design related to his/her discipline for assigned projects.
  • Responsible for the preparation of detailed design drawings within his/her discipline, in accordance with engineering design, required as project deliverables.
  • Provides continual guidance to drafters within his/her discipline for assigned projects.
  • Communicates and coordinates with Lead Designer for respective discipline to promote smooth, accurate, and scheduled completion of deliverables.
  • Reviews drawings within his/her discipline for assigned projects on a regular basis for completeness, overall quality, and adherence to standards.
  • Ensures all drawings within his/her discipline for assigned projects have been properly checked and backchecked.
  • Prepares and/or directs the preparation of final drawing plots and copies for transmittal relative to all project deliverables.
  • Possesses an awareness of project schedule and budget.
  • Assists with Project Audits when required.
  • Update P&IDs with instrument details.
