About The Position

The Dynamic Positioning Supervisor is part of the corporate marine authority within Noble Drilling and is expected to provide operational support and technical expertise of Dynamic Positioning systems and related equipment. Thru vessel attendance and review they will ensure compliance with company operating procedures, maintenance requirements, industry best practices and international maritime regulations focusing heavily on FMEA and DP Systems. Ensure that all internal and external vessel DP related deficiencies are managed, closed and shared with applicable parties. Ensure compliance with the company’s QHSE policies and guidelines. Work closely with Marine Technical group as well as corporate and regional operations teams to establish and support Dynamic Positioning initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Licensed Mariner with relevant sea going experience is preferred or high-level knowledge and experience with FMEA, WSOG and Dynamic Positioning, both technical and operational.
  • 5+ years of experience with or on Drill Ships, MODU’s or offshore construction/pipelay/diving support vessels with focus on DP system equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, health, safety and environmental issues, and experience conducting or being part of marine audits.
  • Strong knowledge of International Safety Management Code (ISM), Standards for Training, Safety Management System (SMS) and/or Safety & Environmental Management Systems (SEMS).
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge related to industry application of societies rules, such as the IMCA, IMO, MTS, USCG, ABS, DNV and ability to research national and international regulations and guidelines.
  • Must possess skill sets and demonstrate proven experience developing, improving and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Word, Excel, Sharepoint and Outlook.
  • Requires the ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.
  • Excellent communicator, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organization skills, an ability to multi-task, work under pressure, establish priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion to develop and execute innovative solutions to crew and management issues.
  • Travel is an essential job function (domestic, international and offshore).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure fleet marine assurance by actively participating with and engaging the fleet personnel in Management Systems of the company from auditing marine operations and standards, certifications, and policy adherence.
  • Attend and review vessel FMEA, Proving Trials, Annual Trials, DP Testing, upgrades, and associated functions as directed.
  • Maintain and/or monitor fleet WSOG and Rig DP associated documents as required.
  • Actively engage shore side and vessel management to facilitate timely closure of all open items and develop lessons learned to address root causes of deficiencies and nonconformities.
  • Analyze findings from audits and assessments conducted for common trends and share ideas with the goal of improving controls and adherence to compliance standards and to enhance performance and productivity.
  • Ensure company audits of vessels associated to DP are effectively closed out by their responsible stakeholders to ensure that the vessels are operated within all pertinent laws, regulations and guidelines mandated by International, Port State, Flag or local agencies as well as Company policies and Best Practices.
  • Conduct and review of audits that are intended to verify that the rigs are compliant with DP operations and industry standards and controls established under the company policies.
  • Keep current on industry standards, practices, and methodologies, as well as regulatory DP and marine requirements.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
