About The Position

The Night Shift Dump Truck Driver / Automated Loadout Operator is a blended position responsible for safely operating a commercial dump truck and independently loading material through AMW's automated loadout system. The driver will use a tablet to select and confirm load information, position the truck, operate the loading controls, verify weights, complete required documentation, and transport material as assigned. Because this role works primarily at night with limited direct supervision, the successful candidate must be dependable, self-motivated, safety-focused, and able to recognize and communicate problems before they affect employees, equipment, product quality, customers, or delivery schedules.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A) with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to meet all applicable DOT driver qualification, medical certification, and drug/alcohol testing requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience safely operating dump trucks, tractor-trailers, or comparable heavy commercial vehicles.
  • Ability and willingness to work a night-shift schedule, including overtime, weekends, or holidays when business needs require.
  • Comfort using a tablet, touchscreen controls, electronic forms, and basic automated equipment interfaces.
  • Ability to read and follow load instructions, safety procedures, warning messages, delivery documents, and posted signage.
  • Reliable attendance, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a safety-sensitive environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of commercial driving experience, preferably involving dump trailers, bulk materials, terminals, ports, warehouses, construction, or industrial facilities.
  • Experience with automated loadout systems, truck scales, electronic logging devices, or transportation management applications.
  • Basic mechanical awareness and experience recognizing abnormal equipment sounds, alarms, leaks, or operating conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a dump truck and related commercial equipment in compliance with company policy and all applicable DOT, state, and local requirements.
  • Perform assigned nighttime material movements and deliveries while following approved routes, schedules, site rules, and customer instructions.
  • Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report defects, damage, maintenance concerns, incidents, or unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain legal axle and gross vehicle weights and ensure the load is properly distributed, contained, and secure before travel.
  • Use a company-provided tablet and automated loading system to select the correct order, customer, material, destination, and target weight before loading.
  • Confirm the truck is correctly positioned and that the loading area is clear before initiating the load cycle.
  • Monitor the entire load cycle, verify displayed weights and alarms, and stop the process immediately if an unsafe condition, wrong product, equipment issue, or abnormal reading is observed.
  • Follow approved procedures for load verification, scale tickets, load adjustments, and system shutdown. Never bypass safeguards or attempt repairs outside authorized training.
  • Accurately complete electronic and paper load records, inspection reports, delivery tickets, fuel records, and other required documentation.
  • Maintain timely communication with operations leadership regarding completed loads, delays, product or weight discrepancies, equipment alarms, breakdowns, customer concerns, and emergencies.
  • Protect customer, shipment, and company information and ensure each load is matched to the correct documentation before departure.
  • Work independently and remain productive with limited supervision while following established priorities and procedures.
  • Plan work to meet loading and delivery expectations without sacrificing safety, accuracy, equipment care, or product integrity.
  • Maintain the truck cab, dump body, loadout area, and assigned workspaces in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Support other terminal duties within training and qualification when operational needs require.
