About The Position

The Sioux Falls School District is hiring a Dual Elementary Custodian serving Renberg and Discovery. The custodial team helps create a safe and healthy environment for students. This position is 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, year-round, with a Monday-through-Friday schedule from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The schedule is split between Renberg (2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) and Discovery (7:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.). The position is classified at Level KX, with starting pay of $23.62 per hour. Paydays are the last working day of each month. The custodian performs routine cleaning and maintenance, assists with school activities and groundskeeping, operates building systems and security equipment, and may work a revised schedule or substitute for other custodial staff as needed. The position shares responsibility for holiday, extended-day, and weekend activities with other custodial staff. Benefits are available for positions of 20 hours per week or more. Requirements

High school diploma.
At least 8 months of high school training, or 4 months of high school training plus at least 1 year of prior custodial experience.
Low-pressure boiler training.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Good attendance.
Ability to communicate and follow written and oral communication.
Ability to recognize equipment malfunctions.
Positive attitude toward coworkers, ability to work cooperatively, and willingness to accept instructions and training.
Good physical health and ability to lift 75 pounds, climb to high and difficult places, and work in those places.
Ability to perform constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing, walking, and repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions; frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, and stooping; and occasional climbing and crawling.

Responsibilities

Sweep, dust, arrange furniture, empty trash and pencil sharpeners, clean chalkboards, and set up for activities.
Wash walls, woodwork, and windows, and clean and polish metal surfaces.
Clean and maintain hard- and soft-surface floors, including wet mopping and spot cleaning.
Clean, sanitize, and deodorize restrooms and locker rooms.
Perform minor repair and maintenance.
Operate heating, air conditioning, ventilation, electrical, and mechanical systems, limited to turning equipment on or off and/or setting day/night cycles.
Observe and report needed repairs to equipment, furnishings, fixtures, buildings, and the site.
Assist with maintenance of lawns, landscaping, concrete and blacktop surfaces, and playgrounds, including snow and ice removal from pedestrian walkways.
Assist with setup and teardown for school activities.
Operate security systems and secure the building at the conclusion of the shift.
Work a revised schedule and substitute for other custodial staff when necessary.
Share responsibility for holiday, extended-day, and weekend activities with other custodial staff.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
