About The Position

At Crestron Electronics, Inc., the DSP Engineer researches, designs, develops, implements, and validates digital signal processing algorithms for audio and voice communication products. The role develops audio processing solutions to improve voice quality, speech recognition, and acoustic performance across communication devices and audio systems. The engineer designs and optimizes audio front-end processing, speech enhancement, acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction, multi-microphone beamforming, and music and audio enhancement technologies. Working with cross-functional engineering teams, the role evaluates system requirements, develops and tests signal-processing solutions, and supports integration into embedded and software-based products. It requires expertise in DSP theory, audio acoustics, and algorithm development, as well as troubleshooting complex technical challenges and helping deliver high-performance audio solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, DSP, or Acoustics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience designing audio DSP algorithms in shipped products.
  • Solid understanding of digital signal processing theory and its practical applications.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and C/C++.
  • Experience developing audio signal processing, acoustic echo cancellers, microphone-array beamforming, noise suppression, equalizers, limiters, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with audio acoustic measurements, including equipment from Audio Precision, Listen SoundCheck, and/or HEAD acoustics.
  • Knowledge of acoustics, psychoacoustics, and audio system design.
  • Experience with real-time embedded systems and audio frameworks, such as AudioWeaver.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Electrical, DSP, or Acoustics Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and tune real-time audio signal-processing algorithms for speech and audio applications, including filtering, equalization, dynamics processing, acoustic echo cancellation, noise suppression, automatic gain control, and related enhancement technologies.
  • Implement and optimize algorithms on embedded processors, including ARM-based systems and DSP cores; improve computational efficiency, memory usage, latency, and system performance for reliable real-time operation.
  • Conduct objective and subjective audio testing, use measurement tools and data analysis, and perform critical listening to identify issues, recommend improvements, and validate product requirements.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, acoustics, systems, and product engineering teams to integrate DSP features into commercial products; participate in technical discussions, design reviews, debugging, and product validation.
  • Create and maintain scripts, test tools, and automation frameworks for algorithm development, tuning, regression testing, and performance validation.
  • Document DSP designs, implementation approaches, testing methodologies, and performance results.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging audio technologies, and DSP best practices, and apply new techniques to improve products and technical capabilities.
