About The Position

A Dry Operator 1 is responsible for day-to-day terminal operations of the safe handling of dry bulk products. They maintain efficient and safe operations that supports the company core values.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must have the ability to work on multiple fronts simultaneously
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US driver’s license.
  • Must pass all pre-employment testing including a drug test, physical and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience operating equipment; forklift, track hoe, etc.
  • Train to Operator D-9 Dozer and other heavy Equipment, i.e.: Front-end loader, Bobcat, Manlift, and Track-hoe
  • Ability to operate forklift, backhoe and other equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day terminal activities, ensuring smooth operations for dry bulk cargo handling.
  • Manage and monitor marine vessel spotting, mooring, and shifting activities, ensuring proper vessel loading/unloading.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all dry bulk equipment, including conveyor systems, track hoes, front-end loaders, bobcats, and cranes.
  • Manage rail operations, including connecting and disconnecting railcars for loading and unloading products.
  • Conduct equipment inspections, maintenance, and report maintenance issues as needed, ensuring proper function and safety of all equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures and ensure all tasks comply with company safety standards, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Actively identify and report safety hazards or unsafe conditions, and ensure immediate corrective actions are taken.
  • Participate in the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and maintain readiness for emergency situations as part of employment expectations.
  • Perform and document all required safety inspections, ensuring that work is conducted in safe and compliant conditions.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks and ensure equipment is in working order (e.g., inspecting and replacing fluids, filters, and greasing systems).
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all equipment, conveyors, and work areas at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned and properly stored after use.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to meet operational goals.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with other equipment operators, crane operators, and terminal personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Serve as a signalman for equipment operators and crane operators as needed.
  • Complete daily inspection reports and forward them to maintenance departments for required actions.
  • Report all incidents, injuries, or safety hazards in accordance with company reporting protocols.
  • Submit work orders for necessary maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring timely completion and proper documentation.
  • Strive to meet operational goals such as completing 100% of railcar loading/unloading without issue and ensuring 100% safe work performance.
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement in terminal operations, maintenance procedures, and safety standards.
