About The Position

We are seeking a Drupal Technical Lead as part of our Senior Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services career path to lead the technical architecture and implementation of a large-scale government website modernization. This project will deliver a new Drupal 11 platform that transforms how a government agency serves constituents, manages content, and publishes information across a multilingual, accessible, mobile-responsive digital experience. The work includes designing reusable content models, integrating with AWS-hosted infrastructure, migrating legacy content and data, and establishing modern publishing workflows that support long-term maintainability and future capabilities. This role serves as the technical authority defining Drupal architecture, technical standards, and solution approaches that balance business requirements with sustainable engineering practices. This is a fully remote role. At Fearless, this Senior Consultant collaborates with cross functional teams to align the technical vision, implementation, and quality of software systems across development, reliability, testing, and operations. This role will possess the skills to be able to bridge business objectives with technical execution in software development, infrastructure, security, and testing at an advanced application level of proficiency. The Sr. Consultant role will work on projects that allow them to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable solutions while mentoring engineers, fostering collaboration, and aligning stakeholders with product and project goals.

Requirements

Minimum of 7 years of total relevant professional experience.
At least 3 years of experience leading enterprise-wide website modernization or digital transformation initiatives, with that experience occurring within the past 5 years.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience supporting at least one government, higher education, or similarly regulated organization project.
Experience implementing at least one Drupal solution hosted on AWS.
Demonstrated experience leading the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise Drupal solutions.
Hands-on experience with Drupal 11 architecture and configuration, including PHP development and PostgreSQL databases.
Proficiency in designing Drupal content models, taxonomy, metadata structures, roles and permissions, and publishing workflows for complex content environments.
Proven ability to translate business and technical requirements into solution architecture, technical designs, and implementation approaches.
Deep knowledge of REST APIs and third-party integrations within Drupal platforms.
Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines for enterprise Drupal or web applications.
Background in architecting and supporting containerized Drupal deployments within cloud environments.
Demonstrated ability to establish technical standards, architectural patterns, and development practices for engineering teams.
Proven track record evaluating Drupal configuration, contributed modules, integrations, and custom development needs to create maintainable, reusable solutions.
Experience providing technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams and collaborating across engineering, DevOps, migration, UX, accessibility, content, and QA disciplines.
Experience leading technical and architecture reviews with customers, enterprise IT teams, or other technical stakeholders.
Background developing technical architecture and operational documentation and supporting technical knowledge transfer.
Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools to provision and manage AWS infrastructure.
Background deploying containerized applications using AWS ECS/Fargate.
Knowledge of AWS EFS and Aurora PostgreSQL within enterprise application environments.
Familiarity with Apache and Nginx within Drupal or comparable web application environments.
Knowledge of Drush and GitHub within enterprise Drupal development and deployment workflows.
Background designing search and SEO architecture for large-scale public-facing websites.
Experience designing structured content and API-first architectures that support content reuse and future integrations.
Familiarity with content and platform architectures that support semantic search, AI readiness, or other emerging capabilities.
Acquia Drupal certification preferred.
AWS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical architecture and implementation of the modernized Drupal 11 platform, defining content models, modules, workflows, integrations, and configuration approaches.
Translate approved business and technical requirements into Drupal solution architecture and technical designs that support accessibility, multilingual content, and structured publishing.
Define technical decisions for AWS hosting, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, security, monitoring, and deployment strategies for enterprise-scale Drupal environments.
Establish development standards and architectural patterns, providing technical direction to the Drupal development team and ensuring maintainable solutions that minimize unnecessary custom development.
Design Drupal content models, taxonomy, metadata structures, roles and permissions, and publishing workflows that support complex content governance and lifecycle management.
Design and implement REST APIs and third-party integrations that connect the Drupal platform to existing systems and support future capabilities through API-first approaches.
Coordinate technical reviews, code reviews, and architecture approvals with government IT teams and enterprise stakeholders, ensuring alignment with security and operational requirements.
Produce technical architecture documentation and operational guides, supporting knowledge transfer to agency IT teams and content owners.
