About The Position

The Boston School of Music Arts is seeking an energetic and experienced Drum Faculty member to join their team. The ideal candidate is compassionate, creative, and has a passion for teaching students of all ages, from 4 years old to adults, and can help provide a great musical foundation. This is an in-school position, and the successful candidate will be a W2 employee. The school is one of Boston's largest music schools with a few hundred students taking lessons weekly, offering top pay and handling all administration, payments, and marketing. This is a great position for talented musicians looking for steady work, who love working with people, helping to create new musicians, and being part of a special group. The school focuses on performance confidence and competence, alongside music reading, writing skills, and creative expression.

Requirements

  • At least 1-2+ years' experience teaching drums and percussion to ages 5 to Adult.
  • Solid Drum performance skills
  • Must pass background test, showing suitability to teach children
  • Can work independently, and follow program direction at times.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with an additional instrument preferred.
  • A college degree in music is NOT required, although preferred.
  • Second instrument - a plus (Piano, Guitar, Bass)
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field preferred
  • Ability to create a warm, engaging, and encouraging music learning experience in 1-on-1
  • Comfortable leading small groups, classroom management skills

Responsibilities

  • Be trained in our lessons program
  • Keep internal lessons notes
  • Prepare students for community performances and school performances
  • May prepare students for competitions as BSMA rep, or for special auditions
  • Will teach small groups and bands
