About The Position

Wayne County Drug & Alcohol is seeking a part-time, seasonal Prevention Specialist to support prevention efforts across school and community settings. This role involves leading education, training, and outreach activities to reduce risk factors and promote healthy decisions among youth. The position is located in Honesdale, PA, and is ideal for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and compassionate individual passionate about making a positive impact.

Requirements

  • One year as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist Trainee; or
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education, Education, the Social or Behavioral Sciences or related fields and one year experience in drug and alcohol prevention work; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Pass a drug screening (conditional offer of employment).
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance (conditional offer of employment).
  • Provide complete and accurate information on the application and in response to supplemental questions.
  • Attach a copy of college transcripts if claiming education.

Responsibilities

  • Implement evidence-based prevention programs and strategies in school and community settings.
  • Serve as the SCA representative on committees and collaborative groups to support prevention initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver prevention education, training, and intervention services based on identified needs.
  • Prepare and distribute educational materials, lesson plans, and program resources for varied audiences.
  • Maintain required documentation and timely data entry in the DDAP prevention management system.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, conduct needs assessments, and modify programming as appropriate.
